PROGETTO POSITANO ist ein Förderstipendium für junge Komponistinnen und Komponisten, das die Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ensemble mosaik 2017 ins Leben gerufen hat: Jedes Jahr werden zwei StipendiatInnen eingeladen, einen Monat in der Casa Orfeo der Wilhelm-Kempff-Kulturstiftung in Positano an der italienischen Amalfi-Küste zu leben und zu arbeiten. Im Anschluss an die Residenz in Italien präsentiert das ensemble mosaik die Werke der jeweiligen StipendiatInnen im Rahmen eines Doppelportraitkonzerts in Berlin. Der erste Stipendiat war 2017 Johan Svensson. Im Jahr 2018 haben die Komponisten Manuel Rodríguez-Valenzuela und Andreas Eduardo Frank die Residenz erhalten, 2019 Óscar Escudero und Julia Mihály. Die StipendiatInnen werden in Abstimmung mit der Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung durch das ensemble mosaik jährlich ernannt. Eine Bewerbung ist nicht möglich.

In 2017 the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung initiated the PROGETTO POSITANO scholarship for young composers. Each year the programme offers to two recipients a four week working residence at the Wilhelm Kempff Kulturstiftung’s Casa Orfeo on the Amalfi coast in Italy. Following their residencies, works of the scholarship recipients will be presented by ensemble mosaik at a double portrait concert in Berlin.
In 2017 Johan Svensson received the first of the Progetto Positano scholarships, followed by Andreas Eduardo Frank and Manuel Rodríguez-Valenzuela in 2018, and Julia Mihály and Óscar Escudero in 2019. The scholars are being elected actively each year by the ensemble mosaik in collaboration with Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung. Applications for the Progetto Positano scholarship are not being accepted.

Die ERNST VON SIEMENS MUSIKSTIFTUNG engagiert sich auf vielfältige Art und Weise für die zeitgenössische Musik. Neben der jährlichen Vergabe des Ernst von Siemens Musikpreises für ein Leben im Dienste der Musik werden jährlich drei Komponistenförderpreise vergeben. Darüber hinaus fördert die Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung jährlich um die 150 zeitgenössische Musikprojekte weltweit.

The ERNST VON SIEMENS MUSIKSTIFTUNG is dedicated to contemporary music in a wide variety of ways. Alongside its annual presentation of the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize for an outstanding life’s achievement, three Composers’ Prizes are awarded per year. Furthermore, the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation promotes about 150 contemporary music project a year worldwide.

Die WILHELM-KEMPFF-KULTURSTIFTUNG (ital.: Fondazione Culturale Wilhelm Kempff) dient der Förderung von Kunst und Kultur auf dem Gebiet der Musik. Im Vordergrund steht dabei die Förderung hervorragender Interpretation von Klaviermusik im Geist des Künstlers Wilhelm Kempff. 1957 veranstaltete Wilhelm Kempff in Positano/Süditalien seinen ersten Beethovenkurs in der von ihm errichteten „Casa Orfeo“. Seither trägt die Stiftung in den stiftungseigenen Räumlichkeiten an der Amalfiküste Meisterkurse und andere musikalische Veranstaltungsformate aus und stellt ihre Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten für Künstleraufenthalte zur Verfügung.

The WILHELM-KEMPFF-KULTURSTIFTUNG (Italian: Fondazione Culturale Wilhelm Kempff) supports art and culture, especially in the field of music. In the spirit of Wilhelm Kempff, the first priority of the foundation is to promote outstanding interpretation of piano music. In 1957 Wilhelm Kempff held his first Beethoven course in his house “Casa Orfeo” in Positano/southern Italy, which was built according to his own plans. Since then, the foundation has been offering master classes and other musical events in the foundation’s own premises on the Amalfi Coast, and provides accommodation for artist residencies.

Seit 1997 hat sich das ENSEMBLE MOSAIK als besonders experimentierfreudige Formation zu einem der renommiertesten Ensembles für zeitgenössische Musik entwickelt. Seine künstlerische Arbeit ist geprägt von der Auseinandersetzung mit digitalen Medien und der Entwicklung neuer Konzertformate. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bildet die Arbeit mit NachwuchskomponistInnen. Es entwirft thematische Konzeptionen, die einzelne Werke im Kontext eines Gesamtzusammenhangs reflektieren, aktuelle Strömungen fokussieren und neue Perspektiven erproben: Die Konzerte selbst werden zur Experimentalanordnung. Im Rahmen vielfältiger Netzwerkprojekte kooperiert das ensemble mosaik mit anderen KünstlerInnen und Ensembles.

Founded in 1997, ENSEMBLE MOSAIK has evolved to become a particularly diverse and experimental formation in the field of contemporary music. Beyond their outstanding instrumental skills they display creative individuality and a never-ending joy in experiments. In years of tight cooperation they have created an entity of sound that is highest ranking both in artistic competence and openness to the most diverse concepts of contemporary music.
Close cooperation with up-and-coming composers and the tying in of digital media are key to the ensemble’s work in composition, interpretation and presentation. It prefers an egalitarian workflow between all participants in a project. Transparency helps focus and intensify creativity. ensemble mosaik has cooperated with many composers over the years, thus enhancing a musical development in mutuality.
A special focal point is the reflection of new approaches in performance, such as including scenic and visual elements, and the trying of new concert formats, shedding light on shared contexts connecting individual works, consolidating current strands and probing new perspectives. In cooperation with artists from other fields and musical genres, the concerts themselves become experimental designs.
