Residency in Positano

„I am very grateful for being selected for this new scholarship from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and ensemble mosaik. To get to stay one month in beautiful Positano while working on my new piece: ampèrian loops – part III and also getting a portrait concert by the amazing ensemble mosaik in Heimathafen in Berlin makes me feel very proud and privileged.

My stay in Casa Orfeo in Positano June 2017 exceeded my expectations by far. The location of the house was just extraordinary, slightly outside the busy city center with a large garden and a mind blowing view over the see from the terrace. It was a big house and working space, which in combination with the peaceful and solitary location made it easy to focus on work.
The high and steep mountains on the one side of the house and the vast open see on the other made a very strong impression on me. Being in between two untamable sources of power, which actually could be felt physically, made an impact on my thoughts about music. This clearly influenced my composition process and the unfolding of the new piece.

I did not expect that I would be the only artist working in Casa Orfeo in June, but I am very grateful for it. Sharing the house with others surely would make it more difficult to focus.
The host, who was taking care of me during my stay, was very warmhearted and helpful. I feel that she and I got close friends during my month in Casa Orfeo and I will remember our interesting late dinner conversations.“
